Child Rights are fundamental
freedom and the inherent rights
of all human beings below the
age of 18. These rights apply
to every child, irrespective
of the child's, parent's / legal
guardian's race, colour, sex,
creed or other status. The essential
message is equality of opportunity.
Girls should be given the same
opportunities as boys. ALL children
should have the same rights
and should be given the same
opportunity to enjoy an adequate
standard of living.
In India the population of
children, in age group of
0-14 is 350 million, which
is 34% of total population
(according to 2001 census
of India). Many states have
child populations similar
to large countries. Taking
due account of the importance
of the traditions and cultural
values of each people for
the protection and harmonious
development of the child and
recognizing the importance
of National co-operation for
improving the living conditions
of children in India, Open
