Welcome to the Development
Directory!
The Development Directory with listing of
32,750 development and government organizations
has been prepared to facilitate international
cooperation and knowledge sharing in development
work, both among civil society organizations,
research institutions, governments and the
private sector.
The directory aims to promote
interaction and active partnerships among
governments, private sector and key development
organisations in civil society, including
NGOs, trade unions, faith-based organizations,
indigenous peoples movements, foundations
and research centres. In creating opportunities
for dialogue with governments and private
sector, civil society organizations are helping
to amplify the voices of the poorest people
in the decisions that affect their lives,
improve development effectiveness and sustainability
and hold governments and policymakers publicly
accountable.

is intended to provide a comprehensive source
of reference for development practitioners,
researchers, donor employees, and policymakers
who are committed to good governance, sustainable
development and poverty reduction, through:

and business development services, rural development
and appropriate technology, private sector

Development Directory (DevDir) is a connecting
service uniting NGOs nationally in the cause
of advancing peace and global well being. DevDir
helps to provide the mechanism and support needed
for NGOs to connect, partner, share, inspire,
and multiply their contributions to solve humanity’s
basic problems.
Concerned with universal
values shared across the barriers of politics,
culture, religion, race and ethnicity, the
founding organizations and individuals envisioned
an organization that would enable NGOs to
work in partnership across those barriers,
thereby weaving a selfless social fabric essential
to establishing a worldwide culture of peace.
By optimizing resources and sharing vital
information, DevDir provides a means for NGOs
to become more effective in completing their
vital tasks by connecting with others. With
its national network of NGOs, as well as affiliates
drawn from the ranks of governmental and intergovernmental
bodies, business, and universities, DevDir
has potential to become an national leader
in tackling issues of serious global concern.
Mission
The mission of DevDir is to serve its member
organizations, strengthen and encourage the
non-governmental sector as a whole, increase
public understanding of the non-governmental
community, and provide the mechanism and support
needed for NGOs to connect, partner, and multiply
their contributions to solve humanity's basic
problems.
